Active neighbourhoods are designed to prioritise people over cars. By making a few simple changes, such as adding trees, planters, or benches, places can become safery and more friendly for pedestrians, whilst still allowing local residents the abiilty to use their cars. This project will consider whether an active neighborhood can be designed and delivered in the West of Wigan. In addition to the emissions savings benefits of having lower traffic, the creation of an active neighborhood will improve local air quailty and provide the residents with an outdoor social space. *This project location has been randomly chosen with the borough*
